1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how A Few Quid ("we", "us") collects and uses personal data when you use our website and app. For privacy questions, contact privacy@afewquid.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, including account information (such as email address) and the financial and household data you enter (such as income, expenses, savings, investments, pensions, housing, and debts).

We also collect limited technical information needed to operate the service (such as device/browser information, log data, and security signals).

When you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) collects and processes your payment details. We do not store your full card number. We receive limited billing information (such as your subscription status, billing dates, and the amount charged) so we can manage your account.

3. How we use your information

We use your data to:

Provide the app (including projections, scenario modelling, and UK rule-based calculations).
Maintain and secure the service, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues.
With your consent, measure product usage to improve the service (analytics).

4. Cookies and analytics

We use an essential cookie to remember your cookie preference, and if you give us your email address on one of our ad landing pages we also record which choice was in effect at that moment. If you consent to analytics, we may use:

Google Analytics (GA) to understand page and feature usage.
Vercel Analytics to understand performance and usage.
Microsoft Clarity to record session replays — anonymised recordings of interactions such as clicks, scrolls, and page navigation — so we can find and fix usability problems. Anything you type into a form (including financial figures) is masked by Clarity and is never captured in these recordings.
The Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to reach people with relevant ads on Meta platforms. The Pixel sets advertising cookies and shares page-view events with Meta. It loads only if you consent to "Essential + analytics" cookies.

Analytics and session recording run only when you allow "Essential + analytics" cookies. You can change your choice any time via the cookie settings link in the footer.

5. Advertising measurement

We advertise on Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To know which of our ads actually lead to someone signing up, we need to tell Meta when a sign-up happens. We do this in two separate ways, and they are not governed by the same choice:

In your browser (cookie-based, consent only). The Meta Pixel described above sets advertising cookies on your device and reports page views and conversions to Meta. It loads only if you choose "Essential + analytics". If you decline or ignore the cookie banner, none of this happens.
From our server (no cookies, regardless of your cookie choice). When you give us your email address on one of our ad landing pages, our server tells Meta that a sign-up occurred. This does not read or write anything on your device. Your email address is converted into an irreversible code (a SHA-256 hash) before it is sent, so Meta receives the code rather than your address, and can use it only to check whether it matches someone who saw our ad. We also send your IP address and browser user-agent, which Meta receives from any request your browser makes to it. Your advertising cookie identifiers are sent only if you accepted "Essential + analytics".

We do this because without it we cannot tell which adverts work, and we would waste money on ones that do not. We do not send Meta anything you enter into the app itself: no salaries, balances, debts, projections, or any other financial figure. If you would rather we did not do this at all, email us using the address below and we will stop and delete what has been sent.

6. Marketing email

If you give us your email address, whether on one of our ad landing pages or when you sign up, we may email you occasional updates about afewquid and guidance to help you get started with the app. Every such email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can also reply to any email you receive from us, or write to support@afewquid.com, and we will remove you. When we send those emails, delivery will be handled by a third-party provider acting as our processor. That provider is Resend, which holds no rights over your data beyond delivering the email.

7. Lawful bases (UK GDPR)

We process personal data under one or more of the following lawful bases: performance of a contract (to provide the service you request), legitimate interests (to keep the service secure and reliable, and to measure whether our advertising works, as described in "Advertising measurement" above), and consent (for non-essential cookies, and for anything stored on or read from your device).

8. Sharing and processors

We use service providers ("processors") to operate the app, such as hosting, authentication, and databases (including Supabase), payment processing (Stripe, which processes subscription payments), email delivery (currently Resend, for any emails described in section 6), and analytics and advertising providers (including Microsoft, which provides Clarity, and Meta, which receives the advertising measurement data described in section 5).

9. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify your personal data, subject to any legal, security, or backup constraints.

10. Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time through your account settings.

If you are in the UK, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
